Join Now. In the wonderful, if sometimes sterile, world of Walt Disney Productions, even a monster from another planet isn't really scary. Apart from the cat's "wonder collar" that levitates people and places them in suspended animation, plus some climactic daredevil stuntwork, it's a pretty uninspired juvenile romp. There's enough here to capture the imaginations of the smallest viewers, animals with personalities always work a treat in that department, but the film's rewards will always have to be measured by the simple proposal of its title.
The fun, as usual with Disney pix, comes in the believable sight gags provided along the way. Also as usual, it's a good cast of veterans and nothing to tax them beyond their abilities, all ably kept in pace by director Norman Tokar.
Routine hi-jinks ensue, mixing strangely with ecology consciousness-raising, pseudo-scientific jargon, and everyday telekinesis. The Cat From Outer Space is likely to keep the under's amused, at least if supplemented by plenty of popcorn.

Goofs Early in the film, Frank and Jake discuss procuring the bar of gold necessary to repair the ship. During the discussion, Jake says that he will need to reduce it while retaining all its properties. Later, when Jake reduces the gold to the size of a small pencil, Liz easily picks it up.
